Over $60,000 raised through Silent Auction powered by Intellinet Application of Microsoft Technology
Atlanta - Intellinet, a highly certified and nationally recognized IT strategy and consulting services firm, was honored to make a splash with Women in Technology (WIT), partner Microsoft and Georgia business leaders at the Georgia Aquarium last week for WIT Connect '06. An annual fundraising event hosted by WIT, WIT Connect auctions lunches with executives from some of Georgia's leading companies to support philanthropic initiatives Girls Get IT and WIT on Track.
Twenty-nine auction candidates were featured in the Silent Auction sponsored by Intellinet and Microsoft. Bidding was available online for two weeks and concluded at the event for big fish like Guido Sacchi of CompuCredit, Ann Franks of Lanier Worldwide, Kristin Kirkconnell of AGL Resources, Steve Winterbottom of Scientific-Atlanta and more…
As sponsors of the Silent Auction, Intellinet and Microsoft donated software and hardware and created an application to fully automate the silent auction process - an event that in the past has been run with pencil and paper. Featuring state-of-the-art tablet computers, attendees placed bids using a stylus interface. Real-time results were visible on each PC and were displayed on a large plasma screen that shared the current bids and time remaining in the auction with the audience.
The Silent Auction software was developed as a robust three-tier .NET application, written in C# and leveraging .NET Remoting. All auction information is stored in a SQL Server database that is continuously refreshed to create an interactive "live" experience.
WIT Connect raised over $280,000 this year, with the Silent Auction contributing just over $60,000 in proceeds.
