Microsoft Recognizes Intellinet SQL Server Experts as MVPs

April 01, 2013

Intellinet, a management consulting and award-winning Microsoft-centric technology services firm, announced today that that experts Melissa Coates and Rafael Salas have earned Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Awards.

The MVP program recognizes exceptional community leaders from around the world who foster the exchange of technical knowledge by actively sharing their real world expertise with users and Microsoft. Of the more than 100 million social and technical community members worldwide, there are only approximately 4,000 active MVPs and nearly 300 specializing in SQL Server.

Melissa Coates, a first-time MVP Award recipient, specializes in delivering BI and Data Warehousing solutions using Corporate and Self-Service Business Intelligence tools.  She is a recognized speaker, blogger, and co-founder of the Charlotte BI Group (CBIG).

Rafael Sales, returning MVP for the seventh consecutive year, is an active speaker, published author, and blogger with more than 15 years of experience in Business Intelligence and Information Architecture.  He is also a co-founder of the Charlotte BI Group (CBIG).

Melissa and Rafael join fellow Intellinet Architect and SQL Server MVP, Geoff Hiten, who was renewed as an MVP for the ninth year in 2012.  Geoff specializes in highly available, highly scalable SQL Server database systems.  He is a recognized speaker and active member of the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS).

To receive the Microsoft MVP Award, candidates must be nominated and undergo a rigorous evaluation process. Before a final selection is made, a panel of MVP team members and product group teams review each nominee's community contributions for the past year. To maintain the integrity of this prestigious program, MVPs must reapply each year and undergo the same level of scrutiny to maintain MVP status.

"Intellinet was founded on the principle of helping others succeed by solving complex problems. Not only have Melissa, Rafael, and Geoff achieved personal excellence and consistently delivered within the organization, but this award affirms their desire to also help others reach their fullest potential," stated Michael Lignos, vice president of consulting operations at Intellinet. "We are truly honored to have them on our team and contributing to the Business Intelligence and SQL Server Community."

About the Microsoft MVP Award Program

Microsoft began the MVP Awards as a way to recognize members of the general public who devoted their time and technical expertise to helping users in various online technical forums. Over time, the program evolved, and awards are given to members of technical communities worldwide for their contributions to communities including third-party Web sites, user groups, blogs and wikis.
