Tonight's Silent Auction will be powered by Intellinet Application of Microsoft Technology
Atlanta - Intellinet, a highly certified and nationally recognized IT strategy and consulting services firm, is honored for the second consecutive year to serve with partner, Microsoft, as sponsors of the WIT Connect 2005 Silent Auction. WIT Connect, hosted by Women In Technology (WIT), is an annual fundraising event to support philanthropic initiatives in the Atlanta Community, such as Girls Get IT and WIT on Track. The event, which auctions lunches with executives from some of Georgia's leading companies, will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at the Cobb Galleria from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
As sponsors of the Silent Auction, Intellinet and Microsoft have donated software and hardware and created an application to fully automate the silent auction process - an event that in the past has been run with pencil and paper. Featuring state-of-the-art tablet computers, attendees place bids using a stylus interface. Real-time results are visible on each PC and are displayed on a large plasma screen that shares the current bids and time remaining in the auction with the audience.
The Silent Auction software was developed as a robust three-tier .NET application, written in C# and leveraging .NET Remoting. All auction information is stored in a SQL Server database that is continuously refreshed to create an interactive "live" experience.
WIT Connect is now in its eleventh year and raised over $125,000 in 2004. WIT invites the technology community to attend this banner event and bid in the silent and live auctions. Registration is available online at www.witinc.org.
