Custom application by Intellinet helps organization exceed fundraising expectations in a down economy
Atlanta, GA - Intellinet, a highly certified, professional IT consulting services firm, was honored to partner with Women in Technology (WIT) for the sixth consecutive year as sponsors of the WIT Connect 2009 Silent Auction. At the Atlanta History Center on July 16, Intellinet donated custom-developed software to provide over 375 guests with the opportunity to bid for one-on-one time with C-level decision-makers representing some of Georgia's top businesses.
Most Silent Auctions employ the use of pencil and paper to manage bids, an arduous process in which results are severely delayed. Using Intellinet's Silent Auction application, the bidding process was fully automated and allowed bidders to view the status of active bids in real-time across large plasma screens. Written in C# and developed as a robust, service-oriented architecture, all auction information was stored in a SQL Server database that continuously refreshed current bids and time remaining in the auction to create an interactive "live" experience.
The 15th annual event, Connecting for a Cause, raised over $25,000 from the Silent Auction alone in support of pre-career programs focused on attracting girls and young women to technology careers.
"Early estimates show that WIT Connect raised over $220,000 total. That is more than double our original goal for the evening! In this economy, we feared the worst and tonight saw the best," stated Heather Rocker, Executive Director of WIT.
